Judgment of the Wolves if not your ordinary legal drama. Far from it. This is a twisted tale that brings together the very best and the worst that society has to offer, in a battle for one man's life, another man's sanity, and a third man's acceptance by others. Jason Montgomery, a burned-out, 52-year-old attorney, picks up a legal aid case that turns his world and the world of everyone involved in the case, upside down and inside out. Montgomery, who fears that his life has been meaningless up to this point, tells his client, "...I'll retire and everything will go on -- I'll die and it will be as I was never here." -- not knowing that he's about to take on the case of a lifetime (his lifetime). This is a case that will bring more meaning into his life than he has found during his entire twenty-five year career.

But, what is the truth behind Montgomery's client, David, the strange who appeared from nowhere, and disrupted the lives of an entire city? What if this mysterious, soft-spoken man is who he claims to be? What if, after 2,000 years, he really has "returned" to Earth, to complete his mission? What if, as he states, he was executed prematurely all those many years ago? Can Montgomery figure out the reality and do the right thing? Or, will society once again, put an end to the life of the messenger? Can the world handle the truth...this time?

Book excerpt

Before Ben could react, the other man looked up at David with pure hatred in this eyes, and pulled the knife effortlessly across the whimpering girl's throat. Ben screamed and lunged for the man -- but, like a cat, the man was quickly on his feet, coming straight at David with the knife. His face was contorted by a grotesque grin. An angry red scar ran from what was left of his ear to the corner of his mouth, adding to his surrealistic appearance. Ben was caught, as if he were moving in slow motion. David and the man were now just feet from one another. Then he saw David step forward with his hand outstretched, his eyes staring into the man's eyes. Ben tried to hear over the pounding of his heart, but he couldn't make out David's words.

...He stepped back, stumbling, and after taking a long look at David, dropped the knife and ran.

...Ben's medical experience told him she would probably be dead before they got help...

David started own the hall, meeting the nurse as she came out of her small office. "Oh my God," she gushed, as she cleared the examining table.

"Where is she hurt -- where's ll that blood coming from?"

"She has a deep laceration to the side of her neck." Ben responded as he pushed back the girl's hair, which had become matted with blood. But there was no wound!

He leaned over her and put his fingers on the place where he knew there had been a deep cut, just moments before. Ben turned to David with a questioning look, but there was no response.

What would you do if a homeless stranger named David showed up in your town, wearing all that he possessed on his back -- a man with piercing, ageless eyes -- making no claims, doing good deeds -- but nevertheless, threatening the very core of the community? What would be the reaction to the suggestion that he as in reality...Jesus returned to Earth?
